Technical Assistance Missions
January 12 – 23: External Sector Statistics (ESS)
| Amila Wijayawardhana, CDOT Statistics Advisor, and the IMF team conducted a field‑based mission to Samoa to support the Central Bank of Samoa (CBS) in strengthening external sector statistics. The mission focused on operationalizing the compilation of remuneration of employees using a model‑based framework, and establishing a balance of payments and international investment position (BOP‑IIP) integration framework to improve validation and consistency. The team also provided training and preparatory support for a future direct investment survey, while addressing data gaps and estimation issues. The authorities demonstrated strong engagement and requested continued IMF support to further enhance statistical capacity and implementation of new methodologies. |
